(NDRC) convened a special conference on investment progress in relation to 

the South African Energy Metallurgical Special Economic Zone projects, in 

order to implement the list of key projects for capacity cooperation which 

jointly agreed between NDRC and the Department of Trade and Industry of 

South Africa, under the witness of the leaders of China and South Africa, 

during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing this year. 

Mr. Wang Jianjun-Director General of the Foreign Investment Department of 

NDRC chaired the meeting, The National Development Bank, South Africa 

Energy Metallurgy Base (Pty) Ltd. (SEZ operator), China Huadian Group, 

China Electric Power Construction Group Co., Ltd., China Metallurgical Corp, 

Taiyuan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd.,China Communications Construction Co., Ltd.,

The heads of the company attended the meeting and made detailed 

discussion on the progress and work plan of the SEZ projects.
