SAEMSEZ Project Planning Technical Program Coordination Meeting

South African Energy Metallurgical Base (PTY)Ltd. (SEZ Operator) convened the Special SEZ Project Planning Coordination Meeting in Guangzhou on December 11, 2018, with the aim of accelerating the implementation of key projects of capacity cooperation signed by the two governments during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation held in Beijing in September, 2018.

The meeting was attended by

After full exchange and consultation, the delegates reached the following results:

 
1. The overall planning and implementation plan of the Musina -Makhado Special Economic Zone has been determined.

2. To invest and construct Five demonstration projects in Musina-Makhado Special Economic Zone are identified, namely: coke plant, waste heat power plant, high carbon ferrochromium plant, vanadium-titanium smelter and high-performance wear-resistant steel plant.;

3. The experts at the meeting had a thorough and detailed exchange and Discussion on the process technology and process optimization scheme of each project. The technological innovation, energy saving and environmental protection are discussed in depth, and it was affirmed that the process technology innovation of stainless steel smelting, vanadium-titanium smelting, high vanadium steel and high-performance wear-resistant steel SEZ projects, especially the high-performance wear-resistant steel process and patent are the leading technology in the world.
